Why don't attorney's scout for clients?

We do, we're usually just not overt about it. Our profession is based on trust. So, we build relationships with people and slowly, carefully, develop a client and referral base through networking. Very few clients who are worth having can be reeled in through a TV ad.

Also, "attorney's" is the possessive form of attorney. "Attorneys" is the plural form. Example: "the attorney's briefcase," versus "the attorneys who handled my lawsuit."

It was once so bad that the Bar had to implement rules restricting lawyers soliciting new clients (such as in hospitals and at accident sights).

Scout? As in market themselves? If so, have you missed all the horrible attorney commercials on TV and radio? (the commercials are horrible - the attorneys are horrible). It was once so bad that the Bar had to implement rules restricting lawyers soliciting new clients (such as in hospitals and at accident sights). I am a lawyer and what I see in my profession sickens me. Lawyers have a bad reputation but one that they fully earned.

I suppose I meant make a personal call. What's wrong with it?

most attys have enough business for 5-10 yrs out.

if you have a friend who is an atty who is hungry, I will

guide him or her as a gift.

Please! You think lawyers should become telemarketers making cold calls to see if someone needs their service. I currently get all the nuisance calls I need.
