What are perks? for an employee?

They are benefits in addition to the actually salary, they may more often be lower cost things like free coffee.

Perhaps the best known company for perks is Google, offering employees free gourmet meals, massages and many other nice extras, in part to keep workers campus for their lunch hour so they can remain focused on their tasks.

Perks are niceties that employers provide to make a job more attractive, and improve employee morale and productivity.

Free coffee and a subsidized cafeteria would be very standard perks (no pun intended)...and there are plenty of others, depending upon where you work. Better ones include in-house gyms and daycare centers, concierge service that picks up and delivers dry cleaning, etc. Some of the big high tech companies offer those.

Perks are employee benefits.

Basically anything above and beyond pay.

Includes things like health insurance, paid vacation, discount meals, my last job offered among other things, free cell phone with plan, paid training for conti uing education, reimbursement for driving to out of town jobs

health insurance mostly or all paid by the employer, paid vacation, company match on a 401k retirement plan, company paid disability and life insurance are some perks

some other things that companies offer to their employees for free.. Like insurances, vacations etc I think some big business even offer cars to their employees or condos..

BTW, it's short for "perquisites", which is such an odd word that perks is taking it over in meaning, in everyday English.

House rent allowance, Conveyance allowance, medical insurance, Leave fare concession, School fee for children etc

Insurance benefits, paid time off, education reimbursement, 401(k), bonuses, company car, stock options, etc.

Things you get besides money. like if you work at a fast food restaurant they'll sometimes give you free food

Paid sick leave, holidays, paternity leave, performance bonuses, vacation, on site child care, etc.

Anything you get in addition to being paid.
