I had an Idea , I am not sure how it would work in practice and am wondering about the faults in my idea. Many shop keepers go out of bushiness because they are competing with each over and supermarkets. What if their was a better way for all these businesses to all be prosperous...? Near my home there are many corner shops and small supemarkets clustered in the same area, with corner shops often right next to each other, and close to small supermarket chain shops. Often the consumer is blamed for small businesses going out of business, because they choose to shop in supermarket chains which are cheaper. However. the consumer's concern is naturally about saving money. Convenience might also be important. What if there was instead a reasonable distance between such corner shops and businesses that clash, which essentially sell the same products and services and have to then compete for customers. What if businesses were instead clustered with complementary businesses, so that e.g. when you go for a haircut, you might also be able to pick up some groceries, or have lunch at a cafe. What if similar small businesses (that were no longer competing with each other by location) formed a co-operative, through which they were able to buy in bulk at a greatly reduced rate, and then distribute them to their shops, and pass on their savings to the customer. They could then compete with the supermarkets better and earn back some customers. Any ways to improve this idea
