The only criteria is that the item does not claim to be something it isn't, for example if you claimed your pieces were made by Faberge.

I am an amateur jewelry designer but I have made pieces that are worth about $20,000 from the value of the gems alone. Are my pieces qualified to be sold at high end auction houses like Sotheby's? What qualifications must jewelry meet to be sold at Sotheby's? Thank you.
