Should I do it?

Bravo, David! That's exactly what my professors in college used to say!

If you want to go into architectural design professionally, you might want to take courses on it. You'll also want to check code compliance wherever you decide to base your business.

Good luck!

Before I started my first business, I was given very valuable advice which I followed. The advice was to avoid the failure that so often follows small business start ups, get thoroughly prepared by working first for an existing company in the same business. Only after several years in the business, will you be ready to go off on your own.

If you have enough vision and stick-with-it, you can be successful. Sounds like you want to get in architecture (design) rather than construction (implementation). If so, you should look into getting a college degree in architecture. Also look into where you want to start a company and what's involved. Some states are more friendly, others will charge you more for the privilege. At a minimum you want to start a company, usually a limited liability corporation, so you can separate you business from personal. Also protect your personal assets from business suits.

I have always wanted to own a buisness and I have good leadership skills and work really hard. Also, I have looked into construction and find myself loving it. I want to be the person that designs new types of buildings that have never been made before (in the long run). First I will obviously start off small, then work my way up to designing and building new things or big buildings for companies. If I work hard, would I be able to make this company very successfull? And is there a lot of compitition? How would I be able to pull this off?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
