Shill bidders bidding on my stuff?

Maybe I don't understand, but here's my experience in buying on ebay. Let's say I bid $20, but the next lowest bid is only $9. I will usually get the item for $9.50 or $10 because all I need to be is just higher than the next lower bidder. So, I sometimes pay less than my maximum bid. So, if no one else bids more than $30 on these items, won't the high rollers get it for $31? Just don't ship until you are sure you have the money. Make sure you send with a tracking number, or they will claim they never got it and ebay will take the money back from you.

Here is my own eBay rules

1st do not ship until you get paid.

2nd 24 hours after the end of the auction, send an invoice, be polite and remind the buyer that if a payment is not received within 48 hours, you reserve the right to resell the item.

3 if you are not paid in the next couple days, open an unpaid case with ebay.

4 If not resolved with 2 days, relist the item.

I've had several high bidders that never paid, so be careful

Good luck

You know, they might be new accounts who are willing to pay? I have 500+ feedback but I started with none like everyone else. They are not shill bidding, a shill bidder is someone who lists an item and then bids it up with another account. If they don't pay, don't send, simples. In future you can bar people from bidding if they have a feedback score of less than 10. Some small toys have hefty value and you might not realise it.

Are you sure you understand what "shill" means?

What possible incentive would either of these people have to shill? Normally a shiller is either the seller using another account or someone the seller knows.

Here are a couple thoughts:

1) Are you sure your item is not a collectible of some sort?

2) If you are, you can CANCEL the bids and block those users from bidding.

I wouldn't contact them directly. What purpose would that serve? If you're ignorant about the value of your item they certainly aren't going to school you. And if they are just idiots having fun they aren't going to tell you that either.

P.S. I once sold a 1980s magazine I found in the house I bought. It sold for several hundred dollars to a guy in France. It was an out of print lesbian soft-porn thing...lol. Woo-hoo! Wouldn't I have been an idiot if I had cancelled that bid?!

Ok so I'm an eBay SELLER and I'm selling an item worth around $30 MAX. It's just a small toy so it's nothing big. Someone out of nowhere(0 rating account) bidded $999 and then another 0 account bidded $1000 on my item!! What do I do? If I should contact them, what should I say? Thank you.
