Need ideas for party kit business, help!?

In many jurisdictions you would be operating completely illegally. I hope you have looked into your city's/county's/state's requirements for selling food to the public. Most of the time a commercial kitchen is necessary unless you meet the criteria for "cottage food" preparers.

Sorry, I know I didn't answer your question and I probably irritated you. There's just no way I would prepare and sell food to the public without having all the necessary permits, certifications and also liability insurance and incorporation (which you cannot get without being legal). If you don't have all that, this is a train-wreck waiting to happen. All you need is one person to "claim" that they choked on a beer bottle cap or band-aid that was in your cake...

End of soap box. I do apologize. :-)

Start small and see how much you really make on such a thing. Shopping for stuff is fun for you perhaps, but I suspect many people aren't going to pay a huge premium for this, and if they don't you'll end up working for very little.

I currently make and sell custom cakes from home but absolutely love the whole party planning thing. Right now I have researched cool party ideas and favors, etc. I would like to start up a business from home, basically putting together party kits for people. They can pick their party and I go out, do all the shopping and prepping and deliver or mail the kit to the person. Any ideas on how to go about doing this?
