Is it possible to sell something on eBay without PayPal?

You would not want a stranger putting money directly into your bank account.

That gives them the account number and routing information.

If the buyer is willing to send you a cashier's check, you can accept that. But I wouldn't buy from you. If your parent's won't give you permission to use their paypal account, you can't sell on ebay. Paypal is a bank just like bank of America, Wells Fargo or the other banks that you have in your neighborhood. Paypal has to comply with US banking laws which means that can't open an independent account until you are 18.

The bottom line answer is NO. A. Hunch's babble about Paypal being a bank is so wrong it's laughable (google it -- Paypal is NOT a bank). And all this business about accepting cashier's checks and money orders is BS too. eBay prohibits those forms of payment because (among other reasons) they are easily and frequently forged. If you put in your listing that you accept these forms of payment, you will be reported and eBay will cancel your listings and suspend your selling privileges. And you can't post a listing without an electronic form of payment; the form won't go through.

^ what Lost in Space says - yes, you can sell without PayPal; however most potential customers on eBay will quickly NEXT you if you don't accept PayPal.

"I have a checking account so I was wondering if it's possible to just have the money put directly into your bank account?" In order for that to happen you need to provide a level of information about your checking account TO A COMPLETE STRANGER that could just as easily WITHDRAW funds as well as deposit them. You are better off with accepting money orders/cashiers checks.

I've paid by check and money order there. it's up to you to arrange payment terms that assure you don't get ripped off. No one is going to pay a wire transfer fee to transfer funds to you checking account on a small purchase IMHO.

eBay requires you offer an online card payment service in your listing. It must be one of the approved services listed on their web site.

Looks like you can forget about it.

probably it is possible to sell without paypal, but the question is who will buy these days without paypal?

I know this question has been asked, but I saw the one from 2009 and I'm hoping things have changed. I have something I want to sell on eBay, but my PayPal is basically unusable because I can't show proof that it's me. (I'm under 18) I have a checking account so I was wondering if it's possible to just have the money put directly into your bank account? I do have an eBay account all ready.
