If it's just small, not a full on business you'll probably be fine. Do it with any kind of official business though and you'll be violating some standard use rules, possibly statutes governing your residential area and upsetting neighbours (parking, smells, increased business waste); they can ask the local authority to enforce planning law against you (Change of Use).
