Inherited large seashell, how to get it appraised?

A clam shell isn't something that could BE appraised. Unless it's a prehistoric relic, fossil, or carved in some way that is artistic, appraisers don't really "value" items from nature. They're worth whatever you could get for them if someone wanted to buy them. You don't say how large this clam shell is, but chances are it's not really rare, OR valuable except to you as a souvenir or a family heirloom. Appraisers usually only appraise commercially viable objects and antiques.

I inherited a very large half clam shell. I do not have any paper work with it, and so I am having a hard time getting anyone to appraise it. Is there anyone who can appraise it without any paperwork or history on it?
