I need help about a ring..?

Posted at: 2014-12-08
You're stressed because you haven't yet learned how to make decisions. I can tell you that certain things you buy you cannot return. I learned that when I bought my diamond ring at Kay's back in the late 1970's (it was "not" custom made, it was off their shelf). I left the ring and they sent it back to me via certified mail. So I'd say you're stuck with paying for it, and you probably even signed something that said you'd accept it. They will eventually send it to you to make sure you get "your" ring. And you'd need to pay for it.

See your citizens advice for more information.

If kays is a high street store you are protected under existing consumer law.

If kays is a catalogue, then you are protected by the new 13th June 2014 DSR.

I find it impossible to believe you guys are in business and do not understand the current Distance selling regulations, nor the consumer rights.

Goods sold must be fit for purpose. It would be VERY easy to argue in a court the ring is not fit for purpose as its a jewellery item and does not look nice to the buyer.

If it is sold online the new rules apply, he / she can send it back simply because they can. Regardless of it being custom made or not.

According to Kay's return policy - unless it's custom designed or engraved, you can return it - so if it wasn't specially designed for you, don't buy it if you don't like it.

If you check the reviews for Kay's - they have many unhappy customers..

Good Luck

If you don't like it, don't buy it. It's easy for them to send it back. Don't put up with their lazy sales staff telling you any different.

Depends if this was a normal catalogue item or made specifically to your design.

Can you cancel a ring if you don't like how it looks once it finally comes in? From Kay jewelers! There giving me a hard time.. I kept the ring at the store. I'm pretty stressed out..I need some advice..
