How to start a home-based CAKE POP business?

Congrats to you...those Cake Pops must be very delicious. I've been seeing some of those in my local bakery so they're up and coming. Now would be a perfect time to start a business like this.

If you will be doing it out of your home, you might want to check with your local Dept of Health to make sure it will be okay to do this out of your home and to see if you will need any permits/licenses, etc. You may or may not need a business license of some sort but I believe as long as customers will not be coming to your premises, I don't think you need any special permission from other local governing authorities.

You will have to figure out how much it costs you to make the Cake Pops and then determine what price you should sell them at especially like what the minimum order amount should be so it will be worth your while.

You definitely want to be networking with moms and child care places in your area and pass around flyers and/or brochures and make sure it promotes that you do catering for children's parties, etc. (Lol - you might even want to target adult events and make Rum Cake Pops - Idea!) Especially weddings.

You will need a website and to register your business as a DBA, LLC or Corp.

Can anyone share some experience to share with me?

I simply made some cake pops to the teachers in our school to thank them for being so nice and patience with my kid. Since then, I have been getting positive feedback. My cake pops are getting more tasty each time. Even my neighbor told me that I should sell these.

However, I don't know where to start and how to get orders from people. Do I need to get a permit or license to do catering to parties? Even cake pop donation I need to get permit?

Please help. Thank you!
