Some countries never stamp their gold jewelry. Unmarked gold-colored jewelry is most likely simply costume jewelry of little value, but there are a few exceptions to this rule. Jewelry that was made before 1900 may not have a gold mark, and jewelry that was made by an artist or independent jewelry designer may not be stamped. No matter if your stem is 10k or 18k gold, there's really no value because there's just not very much gold there. So, $5 is a decent price.

gold-plated is most likely; the amount of actual gold present is probably negligible.

gold plating is of benefit of to those allergic to nickel, but means little otherwise.
