I'd like to open an Etsy shop, and when I looked on the site where it tells you how to open a shop, it tells you to fill out an About page with your name, photo, and location. Is that required? I don't like the idea of giving out that kind of information to the general public, because any criminal can go on the website and get that information.
I sell on eBay, and eBay does not require you to put any info about yourself for the general public to see-- all they see is your eBay handle. My customers who buy stuff from me learn my name and location--that's fine--but not the general public.
Can I open an Etsy shop without filling out an About page, or can I put some handle that's not my real name and a general location, like "USA," so I don't have to give personal information to the general public?
