Not sure how things work in the UK, but here in the US, you would need a business license, and insurance. Both of which are not very expensive.

You should consider getting public liability insurance - but a lot of gardener's don't bother...so, you can just go ahead with it. Be wary though...there are millions of self-employed gardeners in the U.K. and there isn't much work to go around.

No permission needed. But do take out PLI, it is not very expensive. if your lawn mower kicks up a stone and breaks something, you are liable.

My husband did just that, it went through my car windscreen. Apart from that, you can start tomorrow.
