Craigslist conundrum?

Jeez, you're paranoid. Talk to the person. Find out whether he/she sounds like a serial murder. If you have a garage or some place you can move the couch, you might do that. And, sure, put away all your valuables.

When my wife and I have tried selling stuff on Craigslist, most of the people didn't show up. Serious ones show up and buy on the spot.

Good luck.

Move the couch to the garage, let him examine it there.

Invite three large friends over for coffee.....

We recently put a couch up for sale on Craigslist and got a request from someone locally (same area code phone number), to come take a look at it. We have done business from Craigslist before, but never out of the house and are not quite sure how to go about it to ensure our safety. We have not given our address yet, and don't plan to until the very last minute. We plan to hide all our valuables and close all the doors to rooms in the house, but I was wonder if there is anything else we can do to better ensure our safety. We haven't spoken to the buyer personally on the phone yet, but plan to before we give our address in order to get a better understanding of who we are dealing with. Any advice is appreciated. Thank you.
