Can A teenager start a small business?

Exactly as you've said; get business cards printed and pass them round. If you're in the uk the site Vistaprint does a small quantity for free, if you set up a few email addresses you can do this over a few times.

Think of a good catchy name and try and design a recognisable logo around this. A good rule if thumb for a logo is it has to be simple and embody your brand ( what you want it to say about you) so it can be easily replicated on any print.

Also set up a Facebook page and pages on other social network sites with lots if pictures go your work. Ask friends and families to share.

Make really good cupcakes and bend over backwards got those who do buy and they will pass on word of mouth.

Be prepared to work really hard for not much money at first but understand that if you persevere you will get somewhere.

Network with other small local businesses - can you help them with what they do in some way, will they display your cards or leaflets in their windows? Build contacts and relationships to get the support and resources you need, for example do you know anyone who works at a printers or can build websites. Use anything you can think if to get your name out there and make yourself stand out.

I don't think there's anything to stop someone young starting a business, it's good and valuable experience and when your old enough you can take it to the next level, maybe even get your own shop and make a career of it.

When you are old enough I'd recommend getting advise from your local business or enterprise advise service. They'll help you write a business plan and set your business up in a proper legal sense and also get you funding and put you in contact with any other resources you might need

Good luck!

By this meaning how, the steps and who would I ask for permission, ways to advertise, the girl want to make her own business cards too sell and advertise at her school (she was thinking) She wants to do her own mini baking business, selling small cakes and cupcakes and so on.. Thanks!! Any tips or helpful hints at all!!
