financial windfall?

I've inherited a large sum of money. And I'm losing my mind. I'm not scared about managing it , im scared people and family are going to use me as an atm. My own sister is already threatening me / trying to black mail me to get some money out of me. Is there any books out there or anything at all that I can read or watch to help deal with this? Learn something ? I want to learn as much as possible going through this... Thanks

Step 1 - don't tell anyone about it unless you're happy for them to know

Step 2 - speak to a financial advisor to get the most out of it / keep it safe

Invest it somewhere it is not readily available. Perhaps in a savings account that needs a month's notice to withdraw any amount. Your sister will learn she can't ask for more than you would have to spare from your regular pay packet. Google "lump sum investment" for ideas, or book an appointment with an independent financial adviser.

First step is to get the beggars off your back; tell your (obviously very sweet) sister that at the advice of your Financial Advisor you already put ALL the money in a Blind Trust that you cannot access until you are 35 (because you were worried you might blow it all)...

Then get a Financial Advisor...

You don't need "books." You just need to say no. What you describe is a family relations issue, not a financial one.

yes you make enemies of your family over money how very modern how caring how capitalistic and we wonder what's wrong everyone one will look at this answer and gasp IT'S MY MONEY

That I. Might not to be able to go to my mail inbox linked inbox
