cashing check?

Posted at: 2015-07-28
So I went to the bank today and I was getting my new checkings account card. I went to the lady on the right side of the counter who I though could give me the card and cash the check worth 80$ I had In hand. She deposited the check into the account and handed me the slip telling me the amount added into my account which was 80$, but then told me the other women at the other end would have to print out the card for me. She handed the other women my check and the deposit slip and left. The lady who could print the card cashes the check again without knowing it was previously done and she handed me another slip but with 80 more dollars in the account than before. Can I get in trouble for knowing there was a mistake?

Odds are their computer will straighten it out shortly.

People a been prosecuted for taking the money and running when a $10 deposit ended up being $10 Million,.

It would have been decent to point out the mistake at the time, but you can always claim ignorance - just do not spend the extra $80 - because it will be reversed in a couple days.

They will find out there was a mistake. Don't spend more than the 80 dollars that should be in the account.

they will think more of you if you call and tell them of their error. they WILL find the problem in a couple days and correct your account, but calling them will assist them in locating the mistake and they'll remember that.

It will be "your mistake" if you do not bring it to there attention right away.
