So anyway, recently I've asked several questions regarding a girl I like, and that she's 5000 miles away, i'm in Britain and shes in the US. I also submitted a question asking how I could earn money to save up enough money to visit her and since me finding a job is very unlikely due to Social anxiety I needed another way. We're both 17 by the way. Anyway, I recently sold my PS4 to help me save up for a plane ticket but no matter how much I wanted to see her I just couldn't save that money, instead I spent almost all of it buying my parents and siblings things. Recently on my 17th birthday my mum got me a new laptop and I literally felt so awkward because I hate people buying me things I don't know why. The question is, I want to see this girl more than anything right now, so why can't I make myself save up for a plane ticket? Thanks in advance :) I'll be happy to answer your questions also, be sure to link them
You're not financially wise is why. You need to start yourself either a savings account that you can't touch until you're 18, or put one of those piggy banks you can't get into in your room. Commit to putting a certain amount in each month -- I save £75 monthly from my wage just to have savings, but as you're unemployed maybe try £10 a month.
Why are you buying things for other people , is it because you think they won't like you if you don't.
Only you can work out in your head why you do it.
"why can't" you save up? Because you spend more than you should. There is no other answer to this, because we can't tell you why you spend more than you should. Obviously she doesn't mean THAT much to you, otherwise you WOULD save up.
