What should be my goal?

Posted at: 2015-07-28
I have been earning some money a lot recently, and I have been super careful about spending it. I have been saving all of it, and I want to keep saving. I'm only 13, so I'm still really young, but what should I spend my money on once I have a lot? I'm going to be saving for a while, so any ideas will be considered. Thanks so much!

That's great you are thinking of saving up. I am currently in university and I saved up since I was your age. I didn't waste it on expensive things like clothes or makeup. In the long term it was really beneficial for me, one my favourite bands came to my country and I had enough money at the time to attend it. I didn't have to rely on my parents to pay for it so it was a great feeling.

Currently, I am saving up for a trip overseas with my friends. This is going to be those once in a lifetime experiences. I saved since I was young so I believe I will save up enough money by the time I go next year. It is great to spend it on small things that will give you temporary happiness. But it is wiser to save it for something you will remember for a lifetime. You might not have any goal now but you will figure it out sooner or later.

i would say, if you must spend it, spend it on something that's of use to you. for example, a snack is good if you need to eat and are hungry, but other than that it won't do much for you after its u kno digested. As a 13 year old i expect your parents are already feeding you. clothes are good as they're needed every day. Or you can invest it in something, for example, i bought a laptop a few months ago that i use on a daily basis for both research and entertainment. So that's probably helped with my "entertainment bill". My honest suggestion though is to keep saving it, because the more you save money, the more you want to continue to save it and the more you realize and appreciate the time you invested in saving it up. And its really good for future habits. I speak only from personal experience. Also, even if you save until you're blue in the face then decide to spend it all on something, you will appreciate the experience more and have more respect for your finances in the future. Cheers!

Save it for educational opportunities. What if you have a chance to go on a foreign exchange student program? What about university (you're going to need every penny you can get your hands on!)? Save it for future investments & use that money to make money for the Big Ticket items you will need in the future - school, home, car.

Save bruh

Save it until something shows up that you really want. A car, an outfit, a TV, etc.
