I want to take my mom to Europe next summer before her arthritis gets too bad. I'm 19 and I don't have credit (might take out a credit card to build credit). By next year, do you think the bank would give me a $5,000 or more travel loan? Personal loan? Anything?

Your credit has nothing to do with it as long as it is not bad credit. All getting a card will do is give you debt. At 19, to get a loan, you will need a cosigner or a stable full time job with proof that you can afford the payments & still keep up with all you other bills. Don't even try if you have less then that. Personal loans are almost obsolete these day..

Here's a tip; if you don't have any money, blowing $5,000 on a vacation is not a very good idea.

Banks are not into loans these days unless you have some good assets, not going to happen.
