Should I trust the bank?

Posted at: 2015-07-28
Since I graduated High School, and that I am going to work someday, my mom suggested that I do a checking account to store paychecks, but I realized some time ago that some banks can be corrupt. Should I keep the money at my house? Or should I trust the bank, and give that a shot?

yea. most people imediatly after the great depression didnt trust banks my by history teacher said there are so much laws in place preventing it from happining again. just dont keep more then 250,000 dollars because the insurances usually dont give back more then that if they lose it but they will for sure give back up to 250,000

Yes. And get a bank card, and any future job ask for automatic deposit. Have checks available cause some vendors require a written check, not a bank card. Also open a savings account and try to put $25 a week into it without touching it. Do not get a credit card ever. I don't believe in credit or credit scores..it's interest rates are pure legal theft. And yes, every wise person I know has a safe at home with some cash in it for emergencies..remember, money is a tool..don't let marketing and media sway you to spend it on frivolous stuff!!!

Use your local bank, if they are still in existence. Many offer fee free banking, just like it used to be. As far as corrupt, your confusing the big banks which do a whole lot more then just offer checking accounts. With the banks that you'll be dealing with for a while.

The distrust in banks doesn't apply to stuff like checking accounts. It was selling you stuff you don't need and gambling with customers money. Checking accounts are OK. Safer than keeping all your money at home.

well you see it's all about managing your money of course it's safe but it's making them an awful lot more than it is you if you are clever enough you can invest and this money will grow gone are the days where banks gave good returns banks have bad reputations because they deserve it they are ruthless penny pinchers but we are all compelled to use them cash is becoming redundant

Most banks are insured through the FDIC. So, your deposits are not at risk.

In the US? Checking accounts and savings accounts are totally secure.

Banks are FDI insured so your money is protected. It is "investments and get rich quick" that will get you.

many companies require you to set up a direct deposit with a checking account.

just get one and set it up. then make sure you check your statements along with your pay stubs.

in the US, accounts are 100% safe.
