I like the convenience and trying new things; I just want to make sure its not one of those Western Union scams!
Do *NOT* accept Venmo for good (such as Craigslist sales). It's a violation of Venmo's terms of service and they will reverse the transfer, leaving you with no cash and no goods, and unlike PayPal there is no buyer protection available.
I'd insist on cash--with cash you are sure that you were paid. With electronic systems, even sophisticated ones, there's a possibility of a scam. And doesn't Craigslist strongly recommend that you accept only cash? Plus you say you're not sure how it works? Go with cash.
I use Venmo. Once the money is transferred to you they cannot take it back. I usually transfer it immediately to my checking account. But a word of caution for meeting someone from Craigslist: meet in a public place, preferably in front of a police station or courthouse. Daylight. You can never be too sure.
insist on CASH - nothing bigger than $20's - you could get so scammed otherwise - I've never even heard of Venmo - very suspicious if buyer is meeting you in person and NOT bringing cash
If he's meeting you in person he can pay CASH or no deal
If you are meeting in person, then tell him to bring cash.
I use venmo all the time, hasn't failed me once! Just make sure he actually transfers you the money lol
don't do it
