Is this worth a legal case?

Posted at: 2015-07-28
So when I was 16, my mom opened a bank account for me. She says she started it with $20, and has been adding $40 each month. Now, it should have $800 in it. I'm almost 18 now and trying to get a job. I asked her about it because my computer screen is cracked and I need to repair it.

She bought me the computer because she needed a new computer, and we basically traded. She payed $250 for it, my dad payed $150 given that he knows I'll pay him back.

So today she tells me she spent money from my account for the computer, not her own. That means she bought herself a computer with my money and has been lying about it for almost half a year. She wants me to pay her back for the money she spent on the computer (?). What can I do? I don't have any money now, I'm trying to get a job but it's stressful, and I will need that money back if I want to go to college next year. Anyone know anything about this? She is also a pathological liar who I thought I could trust, and has a "princess" disorder and thinks she owns the world because she works hard. This I can not paraphrase, she really tells me that. Help?

You're kidding right?

1. You've done nothing at all to earn the money.

2. The account must be in both of your names or in her name only.

3. The money is at best a "future GIFT." She doesnt have to give it to you at all.

4. You're not yet 18 which means everything you THINK you own belongs to your parents. Also means you cant sue even if you had a case.

5. She bought a computer with money she earned. How is that princess like? You sound like you think she owes you

You sound incredibly ungrateful. Be happy with any money she gives you.

No, it's not, because your mom had to have been on the account in order for her to open it in your name since you were a minor. Next, she was putting all the money in there, so her name is on her money.

You've got nothing

Legally, anything you own is actually the property of your parents until you are 18.

it is not
