Its not enough for me
250k at 4% withdrawal is 10k to live off for the first year of retirement. That could easily be the cost of home repairs and property taxes. You will not be able to afford a car and maintain that car.
Social security is a supplemental source of income so it will not be enough to live comfortable.
10K plus social security isnt enough for my retirement. You will basically have to return to the work force.
Depends on two things
1. How much SS will you get
2. How long do you plan on living
It will depend on your lifestyle, your spending habits and your bills--but it could be. And it will also depend on how long you live, how healthy you are in retirement and how much you need per month. There's no simple answer to this question.
$250K will generate between $5K and $10K per year. Can you live on $5K per year?
Only if you expect to live no more then 10 years.
No, you need at least 2.5X that amount
