So I'm a 14 year old girl and I get pocket money each week from my mother. I am trying to save up for her birthday. I want to do something special for her. But, my friends always ask me to go places when I just get my pocket money. My mother tells me to go have fun and spend my money with my friends. She says she doesn't want me to get her anything but I want to treat her. How can I save my money instead of spending? Is there anywhere I can put it without forgetting about it?

I used to use envelopes. Put a certain amount into an envelope and once it's in there don't take it out except for the reason you are keeping it. If the envelope isn't with you when you go out then you won't be spending the money in it.

You can try getting one of those money jars where you can only get the money out by smashing it...but then you would probably have to buy one with your pocket money...
