How do I become financially independent of my parents?

the way your question was asked I'm going to assume you're under 18. So your parents are responsible for you until you're 18. So after that you'd want to live at home while you get 2 years of training at least somewhere, like a vocational or trade course or 2 years of community college. You'd want a part time job while you school. Only then should you move if you're earning a good wage and are full time. It may take $2,000 or more as an initial payment when you sign up for renting plus a $200 application fee. Plus you'd need a car. So you'd need to save your money so you can accomplish these things to be independent. Then you'd need a steady 8 hour a day 5 days per week at least to be able to afford yourself. It's when you start working more (having more income from a career) that you become financially independent.

Make sure you get good grades in school. Finish your high school diploma, because if you dont you'll have a hard time getting a job or getting into a college. If you're 16 make sure you start working right away atleast at a part-time job so you get work experience so when you do move out of your parents place you'll have a start. The sooner you start working the better.

This is my question. I am new to Y! Answers. I just want to point out that I am a college grad and have a job. I have enough money to pay my bills, but they still insist that everything go through them just in case. I give them a $1000 check every month for expenses, but they just put it in my savings. My parents are retired and only have a set income from selling the business. I just want them to be able to worry about their retirement only instead of about me. Sorry for not adding a description in this post. I am on mobile.

Stay home for a bit longer since they put the money in savings, you might be able to help them later.

win a lottery

that's the ONLY real way out of their prison

working for money is NOT freedom

it's just another type of dependence and imprisonment

You basically just change ''cells'' and ''facilities

you go to another ward of the prison

where your wardens are no longer your parents

but your BOSS

do you get it?

the way we all did: get a job or two jobs for sure, it has always been a fool proof method of getting out of parents rule.

The same way everyone else has throughout history. Get an education, get a job.

Save money and do a job for money..;)
