Well, I am not what most people would call rich, but I don't owe anybody any money. I did that by not wasting money, and always making bill paying a priority. Early in life, I made a clear distinction between needs and wants. I got out of the renting scenario as soon as I could and became a home owner in my 20's. I only got married once and didn't have children.
I am secure difference. I was the dumb kid in class. Voted most likely to live on welfare and do prison time for a living. At 13 I had several jobs. I ran a trap line to school, commercial fished in the back waters, shot rats from the dumps and sold them to the fur farm, sold farm produce of my bike in the summer. At 16 I got my first real summer job. I got a job on a clam barge as deck hand. Not that I was the best. Or biggest kid. I had established a reputation as a person that took a job. I lived up to my word and got the job done. Did that 2 summers. Season was June till end of August. After the first season I bought a 1/2 ton new truck. At 16 and paid cash. Expanded into painting. cleaning garages, odd jobs. At 18 I went into the military drafted back then. Came home and looked for a job. Found one and found I had a skill. I look at things different than smart educated people. I built a reputation. As a Master Jeryrigger. In agriculture. I was a farm kid from a small poor farm back in the swamps. My grandfather was a blacksmith hammer and forge man. We had the last steam engine in the county on our place. I learned young how to make things work were the city kids learned from books. A different education back ground was a big help.
Define rich?
My defenition is having enough money to live your desired live style withoout workning. For me that required an income $40,000 a year (home plus vacation home paid for) so my $3800 a month pension and SS works out well, the IRAs are just gravey
It's not that I consider myself rich but I learned early that it is the person that owns the company and takes the chances that makes the money.
I'm not rich yet! I keep trying but I haven't gotten there yet. Perhaps other people can share their experiences with us.
I hope this helps.
Good luck!
I married a pretty accountant. Rich is a rather subjective term.
Inheritance.
Worked, invested.
By investing in lotto tickets.
