Have you observed the same?

Aren't all philosophers poor? Yuck yuck yuck. lol

All I can say is the world would've been a poor place without philosophers.

I am a philosopher of science and religion.

For me God is the first cause of the Universe and it transcends time, space and matter. Philosophy is all about drawing the right conclusions and it is also the basis of science and human thought. "A nation without religion is like a man without breath".

Firstly many people argue that there is no evidence for the existence of God, but in fact evidence points to God. It is the same thing with electrons. I cannot see them but evidence points to them. Most men in the history of humanity have thought that the Universe may be the work of a divine creator who caused it in the first place.

This position is maintained by both philosophical arguments against the infinitude of the universe in the past and also by scientific arguments. If Universe was truly eternal we would have no need for a creator, but evidence suggests otherwise.

Secondly , The Universe cannot be the cause of itself since it began to exist, therefore its cause must necessarily transcends time(Timeless-eternal), space (spaceless) and matter(immaterial). The only way to get a contingent entity such as the Universe from a necessary entity(eternal) is by agent causation.

In addition the agent explanation does not conflict nor compete with the laws of nature. The Agent is the cause in the first place for there being such laws and a Universe.

That is to say, God is the ground of all the explanations in the sense that he is the cause in the first place for there being a world for the scientists to describe.

It's not something to specialize in that has much opportunity for income. I know a philosophy major, but he is not exactly poor. That is only because he is a CPA also and that is how he makes his money.

Philosophers value knowledge more than money.
