Could I get my overdraft fees waived?

Posted at: 2015-07-28
I've been banking with this bank for years now & I'm not the happiest with them. I've tried forever to get online banking but every time I try It doesn't allow me to continue. Now the only two emails I own aren't compatible because I've tried them both. So it's hard to keep track of my finances especially when I live paycheck to paycheck & eve that isn't enough. I've revently had an ordeal with the bank & over drafted what I thought was only about -$20. No, it's $-400. This happened because I went to my local Walgreens & the ATM said ($280.28). & spit out the $20 that I needed. Little did I know () means negative... I've never been told that in my life. I thought maybe I was refunded something & was positive & in the clear. So I continued purchasing things that I needed such as gas & baby food. Jokes on me huh.

Is there any hope for me?

Of course the () means negative or a - negative sign after the number is also the same thing. As for online banking you just have to set it up through your bank/credit union. It isn't hard just call and have someone walk you through it.

As for the overdraft fees most banks have a one time forgiveness option or something like that. You would have to contact them and as long as you haven't had a fee refunded in the past you could probably get your overdraft fees reversed. Maybe not all, but some depending on how many you had. It is better than nothing though.

If you were almost $300 in the negative, then you probably aren't going to see the fee waived. And you have just found out why you do not use the ATM to determine how much you can withdraw - that is why they also give you a register - to track your finances.

It doesn't hurt to ask them to refund a few fees. They probably won't refund them all because it's not a bank error.

They may refund a few but not likely that many.
