walmart leave of absence?

Posted at: 2015-07-28
i just recently started working at walmart. i have a big family vacation planned in mid july. will they let me go? i know they talked about having leaves of absences after x amount of days, but i need this off. think they will approve? it is only a week. im part time. and this is a dumb question but who is my HR? what does HR mean, stand for?

HR is Human Resources. Usually places have HR for employees to ask questions about time off, insurance questions, questions about life situations like leaves, benefits, what not. Is there someone called an HR manager there, or someone who people go to who has that knowledge in your store?

It sounds like you want a week's vacation not a leave of absence. I work retail, not Wal-Mart though, for us a week off is consider a vacation. Usually anything more then two weeks they consider a leave of absence which is different. Go to your direct manager, the person that you report to the most, ask about the store's time off requests, and submitting them. Hopefully they will direct you to the right person. If they don't ask some co-workers who have been there a while and ask them

"It's only a week."

You say that as if it's a short amount of time.

You are an at will employee; if you believe this vacation is more important than your job you can be let go.

HR = Human Resources. They may decline your request but it doesn't hurt to ask. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

LOL .......... "leave of absence" ?

We`re talkin` Walmart here , Hugo ............ NOT an Astronaut , or Brain Surgeon !!

They`ll simply fire your aasss , and you can go on that vacation !!

When you come back , you can get a job at McDonald`s ............

HR is "Human Resources"

Ask your manager or the person who trained you about who to talk to about having time off.
