Tried and true. Just tell them the truth or embellish a little. You're wanting to take photos of amazing hotels. Maybe you're making a web site or building your own portfolio to get work. Go there in the off hours,
And just be honesty with them. No deception necessary.
Chances are, most will let you in like this provided you've got something you're trying to accomplish by being there. Be real. Tell them why. Show them your work and explain your interests and you're building a portfolio.
Some will tell you no.
But if you go there in cleaning hours (1 to 3) - my bet is you'll get right in.
Someone said they are private property and you can't take photos of private property. True. If you intended on making a profit from the photos. False. If you're blogging about them and/pr simply showing off a portfolio. So that person needs to hide their head back in the sand.
So if the honest method doesn't work. Then you have alternative ways...
I've stayed at Four Seasons, and numerous other high end properties like that. Now getting in the front door is actually pretty easy.
Get a layout of the property. A room number. And walk right in - with a destination room number in mind. Carry your camera in a purse or discrete bag, and just walk right in like you own the place.
Many places have key cards. And obstruct you from getting in through even back entrances. These are a little trickier.
Wait for a family preferably a bigger one who ISNT carrying bags. and walk right in with them. Be aware this may not work all the time, you're going to have to have thick skin to deal with a little rejection on this.
Now if you're doing this longer term. Take a job with pizza delivery in the area.. Many will let you go direct to the room, and will get used to your face. Nothing's saying once they get used to your face you can't walk right in...
Good luck. My advice is to be real, I at least, and I - and I know others - tend to like helping out newbies (that's why I answer many questions on YA)... just be real, chances are, they'll help you. and if not, then be creative.
Rent a room.
Even if you are buzzed in after coming up with some way to help that happen, you will be asked to leave if you're photographing everything. Hotels don't exist for the convenience of those who would like to benefit from how well they photograph.
The hotels are private property. You need the management's permission.
You cannot take photos of a private property without permission from the owners.
who says they will just let you take photos?
