Why is the Amazon delivery estimate a month away?

I ordered an item yesterday (Feb. 4th) and the delivery estimate is March 3 to March 19. That's a really long time from now. I also don't have a tracking number. I think it's being shipped from HK. I've ordered from the same seller before. But why is the item going to take so long to get here? Is the estimate always correct?

thank you :)

I would guess they just don;t have the item in stock and are waiting for a production run from their supplier.

Buying direct from China always adds risk, going trough Amazon though improves you chances of getting a refund if things go wrong

Some sellers stretch out deliver time so you don;t have time to make a return after back and forth discussions about return policy, etc Palpal for example doesn't give charge-back refunds more than 40 days after the sale.

I would be thinking of canceling h order and finding a different supplier. (Amazon might view tat lead time as sufficient cause for cancellation)

Ugh yes, I wanted to place an order but the product was coming from Hong Kong, or some other asian city, and the delivery date was like 4 weeks. No worth it, depending in the shipping rate.

anything coming from an Asian Country takes between one to two months to be delivered in the US; the estimate is just that, not a definite date

I ordered stuff from Asia a few times and it always took at least a month to get to me.
