What surprises me though, is the number of people there that are telling me that I should join the company. Every time I ask questions about things that seem like flaws with the company - it is usually acknowledged, but then defended by pointing out all the other good points the company has.
What my question is - why do so many people seem to be 'on board' there? Why doesnt anybody just acknowledge that yeah, maybe its not the best place to work - its really just a job? Are they all too scared to admit this?
Perhaps they just like the work environment and community, or find the work easy, which balances out the poor pay. If the employees are friends with a bunch of other employees, they can feel like that's where they belong.
You did not provide the name of the company or the rate of pay. I hope you understand that many interns are just glad to get a job, any job, and are happy to take minimum wage. The purpose of an internship is to help you determine whether you are going to like working in this field, whether this company is a good company to work for, and to learn something while you are there. Some internships actually don't pay anything, so whatever you get is better than nothing. Appreciate the opportunity for what it is.
The workers have told you the good points. We were not there to know what they are. Obviously to them the good points are more important than cash.
"but the pay is obnoxiously low"
You sound like a spoiled twit with an over-inflated opinion of your worth.
Well we dont work there so we dont know.
