The odd thing I noticed is that nearly 3/4 of all the friends she has on Facebook are all men, most of them are my age, but I didn't really care, I thought she liked me more than everyone else. The thing is today I couldn't find her on Facebook (whenever I type her Facebook page link I get "this page does not exist"). I tried to call her, nothing happens, I couldn't reach.
Please don't tell me this was all a joke, it would be really shocking. Should I go to NY State and help her out? She said she lives in Buffalo, I live in Washington State, it would only take a few hours.
And if this was really a joke, what can my local police do? As a matter of fact I don't even know where this prick lives.. As I said, he collected the money in Buffalo, NY, and I live in Seattle. He could be anywhere by now!!!
Please don't send any more money.
It's called catfishing.
The police can't do anything because you willingly sent the money.
Dr. Phil has some good episodes on both men and women who have been victims of catfishing.
These people have lost hundreds of thousands of dollars and their families over it.
Be thankful that you realized what was going on after only $1500.
You should look into meetup.com. it's a place where people post activities to do with people who have similar interests. It's NOT a dating site and doesn't really anything to do with romance or relationships.
I am a member of a couple of the activities including a females sports fan group, a women's business group, and a flash mob group. My friend does does photography and scrapbooking. My ex-bf would watch NY Jets games with other NYC transplants in the area.
This looks like a fake story.
The account photo and name are of a public figure, a Research Professor of Philosophy, who discusses religion.
The same question was asked at least 2 times earlier, but story was a bit different, the location was Raleigh, North Carolina instead of Buffalo, NY

Sorry but you got scammed by her and you can call the cops in NY but I am sure they wont do anything, it sucks but use it as an expensive learning experience. Never send money to people you don't know especially from the net. Sorry...
This is called a romance scam. The person you are inolve with is a person from either Nigeria or India and im very sorry, she is also a man. The idea of this scam is to make the victim (You) fall inlove with her and then start asking for cash. These scams happen very often, you should basically tell him to **** off... .Google Romance Scamms.
Nice troll. That took you a while to write. U bored?
I think you got played. i feel sorry for you man. alert the local police and see if they can do something.
never lend money to anyone, even if they are dying, unless they are relatives, keep your money for yourself, you might need it later on.
