USPS Can't Find my Package?

Posted at: 2015-07-28
I recently ordered a One plus One phone and it was shipped through USPS. The phone was delivery to my house but no one was there so they left a note telling me to pick it up at the post office. I went to the post office and after 15 minutes of looking, they couldn't find my phone and they told me to try again another day.....

What actions should I take? Do i demand reimbursement from the post office if they can't find my phone?

I don't know what to do. Please Help! Thanks!

Perhaps the pkg was still in the mail carriers vehicle. Try again tomorrow. Give it a day or 2. USPS should have tried to deliver your item more than one time before leaving a note in your mail box to pick up your pkg at the PO. I don't know what is up with that UNLESS they know no one is ever home at the time mail is normally delivered.

If you don't get the item, contact the seller. You didn't contract for the shipping , so it's up to the seller to get the item to you. The tracking info will show it has NOT been delivered. You can NOT demand reimbursement from the post office - that is between the seller & the post office.

Make sure you make a written complaint via USPS.com. It will go to your local post office; but at least you will have something in writing.

Also -- check the tracking info -- what does it say? Delivered? It shouldn't.

If the seller does NOT credit your acct or doesn't send you a replacement phone - contact your credit card company. You won't have to pay for this.

Good Luck

.. sorry - wrong link - fixed it - scroll down to 'how to file a complaint'

... and I know this because it happened to me this year...

The carrier might have had the package with them out on the street. Check the tracking number. It could easily have been misplaced... for instance dropped in the outgoing mail bin. In any case, you have no way of getting reimbursed from the post office unless the package was insured (which I doubt). Wait a few days and if it doesn't show up - after abou tthree days - then contact the mailer.

Perhaps you beat the delivery man back to the office, it's reasonable for it to take a day to sort through the undelivered items. If the package was not insured losses may be tricky.

usps packages have insurance. file a claim
