Is Accounting difficult?

Posted at: 2015-07-28
The reason why Accounting is so difficult is because it is different from all other classes. Those who can pick new things up quick are the ones who do well in Accounting. Another thing is, Accounting requires many hours of studying that most students aren't used too. Most students can get away with 5 hours of study for a general ED course. I just took intermediate accounting I and I studied for 35 hours minimum for each test and I managed to get a 4.0. Accounting is all about hard work and practice.

Hello

No, But it is very boring and repetitive with accuracy being the main requirement.

However there are 2 methods

Kalamazoo, The old big ledgers and cards. I had to do this first to understand about double entry.

For example if a client pays a £300 invoice by check.

That £300 has to be deducted from the client Debt Card Including invoice number and Cheque Number

That £300 also has to be removed from the Total Debt Card including invoice number

That £300 also has to be added to the Total Bank Balance with Cheque number

The balance is that the TDC is now reduced by £300 but the TBB is now raised by the £300

After that I did the Sage 100 Electronic but understood how it worked

You could try going in as a Purchase Ledger clerk which is just part of it and do the Accounting Course as an evening class

Accountant is like half bookkeeper half lawyer.

If a client wants to spend all the interest and dividends from their endowment, and it's over 7%, is that legal? UPMIFA changed the law 6 years ago and you have to know that.

How do you tell if someone's embezzling then catch them?

If IRS catches you at a mistake, how do you walk the line so IRS doesn't blame your client yet doesn't sanction you? (this happens a lot - it's the main reason people use accountants and lawyers, IRS does not punish citizens for relying on faulty advice.)

If you just want to make Quickbooks entries, that's a bookkeeper.

It depends on whether you're going to be "just" a bookkeeper or an actual accountant. Bookkeeping is a fairly mechanical process, but accountants need to know far more about how to run a business and the exams are pretty stiff. But pass those and you can get a VERY well paid job, probably with long hours too.

Is using a calculator and pencil challenging for you?

There are plenty of harder things in life then accounting, so with that said and even though i'm not an accountant. I would personally say no.

Try a class at your college or local school and see if suits you. There is no way to tell if you will 'go' for accounting.

First you have to learn some basic formulas than it is easy.youhave to understand them as well.

Depends upon the problem
