Probably the most interesting brand history would be Marlboro cigarettes. Originally marketed to women, but switched to men with the advent of the most successful marketing campaign in history -- "The Marlboro Man."
DuPont - originally manufactures gunpowder - he likes hunting but disliked the gunpowders that he bought so he decided to make it himself. There are lots of interesting history with DuPont. The guy who inherited DuPont's wealth, John Eleuthère du Pont, is involved in the murder of Dave Schultz. The modern day DuPont have their own unique history. They employed people like Wallace Carrother and Hermann Staudinger to establish polymer science as an academic discipline which ultimately lead them into fiber market. Their nylon ultimately displaced the Japanese silk market in US during WW2. They also have some interesting relation with GM. Thomas Midgley gets transferred to DuPont. He is considered the most unluckiest inventor as he invented CFCs and tetraethyl lead which have terrible impact on environment. Apart from that, Kevlar was invented there and they used to employ important people like Charles Kettering
