typical fake check scam that will land you in jail for passing a bad check and YOU will owe the bank the full amount of the check. Thousands of victims a year are arrested falling for this scam http://www.sfgate.com/business/article/C...
I don't know why people wilfully ignore Craigslist's very clear scam warnings where they specifically tell users to ONLY deal with people they can meet face to face, ALL checks and money orders will be fake and AVOID ALL transactions involving shipping
Craiglist is ONLY for face to face CASH transactions or you will always get scammed. There are NO exceptions
Tell them you are sorry but it's CASH ONLY and if they still want the item, the truck driver can give you cash at pick up. And say that if they cannot come with cash by Thursday you have another buyer
But NEVER sell for anything but cash and always meet the buyer. Nobody buys an item off Craigslist sight unseen. A real buyer always meets you to see the item before they pay anything
This is a very common scam. Don't even think about taking part in it - you'll get scammed out of a lot of money, and maybe end up in legal trouble too.
No.
It is a fake check scam.
The check will be for more than you agree. They scammer will ask you to cash it, keep a little for your trouble and then send the overage back to them via Western Union.
Then.....
A few weeks later, you are notified that the check was fake. This leaves you on the hook for covering the bad check and possibly even facing criminal fraud charges yourself.
Bogus.
real person would pay you cash when they see you to pick it up themselves
