How do you use pounds (currency) in a sentence?

Using this word in a sentence is new to me. I don t know if the way dollars was used in a sentence is just the same with pounds.

for ex:

I deposited two thousand dollars in your bank account.

can it also be like...

I deposited two thousand pounds in your bank account.

it sounded wrong and I m not sure if it s alright.

It's the same like that, yeah.

ex/

I need two thousand dollars.

Is worded the same as

I need two thousand pounds.

As far as I know the main difference is that if you're writing with numbers and symbols you position the $ and £ symbols differently. But I'm not 100% sure of this.

ex/

I need 2000$.

Would be

I need £2000

I think that's how you use $ signs, right?

That is correct. What you call the currency makes no difference.

If you called your currency hamburger you would deposit 2000 hamburgers into your account.

it's right

that is correct
