False advertising?

Posted at: 2015-07-28
If a company says you can buy something that starts at 60$ and when you try to buy it the company says it really cost 80$. Is that false advertising?

No, unless none of the stores sell them for $60. Stating something starts at $60 only means they may have in stock a product for as low as $60. For example if the store says they have jeans starting at $60, they only have to carry a single jean at a specific size that cost $60 and they do not even have to have it in stock so long as it is something they normally stock. Starting at $60 simply means the cost maybe as low as $60

Starts at 60 doesn't mean everything is 60, there are probably cheaper or less quality that is 60.
