Fake bidders on eBay?

How do people get out of payments after they've made a bid on eBay?

Are bids binding?

While the bidder enters into a legal binding contract to pay, many just play games and never pay. Yes, you can take them to court and sue - but these type of people don't think that will happen. However as they are reported for non-payment, their reputation will catch up with them and they will be blocked from eBay. Not only that individual, but anyone in the same home as eBay tracks the Internet connection for all transactions.

The best method of avoiding this problem is to list your items as a fixed price item, using past sales of the same item as a guide, and require immediate payment. Honestly the auction format of eBay is dying a quick death for these reasons.

They dont get out of them. You file a case for Unpaid Item, then Ebay tries to get the buyer to pay, but you get your seller fee refunded and you can offer the item to the next highest bidder. Ebay will take the payment from the buyer or prevent them from further purchases if they dont have any money.

Some people bid on their own items to bolster the selling price, assuming you will outbid them.

If they accidentally win, it is no big deal, they get the money that they pay themselves for the item.

supposed to be - report them as non payers - too many of those and the violators will be banned for life
