Ebay seller wants me to close case!!!?

Posted at: 2015-07-28
Hi all.

I bought a DVD from ebay over a week ago and have not received the item yet. I got in touch with the seller and he says he will send me another one tomorrow via recorded delivery however he wants me to close the case. I did not reply to that request and he has emailed me again 4 times saying the same thing 3 times between 6 and 7 this afternoon and again at around 11.30pm.

I don't really use ebay and this has never happened to me before so if anyone else has had a similar experience or knows what to do I would be very apprieciative.

Should I close the case or is this seller trying to scam me?

Thank you.

If you close the case, you are in effect telling eBay that everything is in order. Do not close the case until you get your DVD. If the seller does not send a replacement, let eBay know - if you get the DVD, then you can close the case.

Threaten Ebay and seller unless it's resolved satisfactorily with 72 hours you will report the matter to the police and do not deviate other than it being sorted within the time frame you set. Initially the police might not want to get involved but insist telling them Ebay and seller have conspired to steal from you. Make Ebay aware unless it's concluded you'll be also seeking damages for breach of contract with ebay and seller. Best of luck let me know how you get on.

You DO NOT close the case until you have a working item in hand. If you close it before receiving the item, you cannot file a dispute. Once you close it, you are telling Ebay the issue is resolved and you cannot dispute it later

He is trying to scam you. Tell him you will close the case once you have a working DVD player in hand. If he won't agree then escalate the claim with Ebay and let them know this guy was trying to scam you

Tell him to send the item and you will close the case once you receive it.
