EBay seller asks for a $500 insurance, help?

Posted at: 2015-07-28
I just bought a product on ebay for $ 500 and the seller tells he'll ship via UPS with a $500 insurance with signature confirmation. I have to pay with Pay Pal.

Can you tell me what does this mean? do i have to pay $500 and then $500 for the insurance? and what does he mean with signature confirmation. I'm a bit clueless so please be datailed.

Thanks

It means you need to pay $500 for the product, plus about $5 for the insurance. That way, if it gets lost in the mail, or damaged, you get $500 from the UPS. The signature confirmation means that somebody has to sign for the product when it gets delivered. UPS can't just leave in on at the door.

The insurance covers the $500 value of the product if it's lost or damaged in shipping. I don't know what the insurance will cost (your seller will tell you), but it will be close to $5, not another $500.

Signature confirmation means that UPS won't leave the box on your doorstep. Somebody has to be home to receive the package, and sign for it.

All pretty standard for an expensive product.

A $500 insurance is like $10, the seller is playing you.

You pay $500.00 plus the seller's shipping fee. He wants you to do this through Paypal. The $500.00 insurance (it doesn't cost $500 extra) is what he is covered for if the shipment is lost and the signature confirmation means you will have to sign for it when it arrives. UPS will deliver to your home or place of business. Congratulations on a successful purchase.

The insurance cost is protection just in case the item get lost or damage.
