Dodgy seller on eBay?

Posted at: 2015-07-28
I bought a PS4 from an eBay (UK) seller, he had 500+ positive feedback, one neutral and one negative. He was rated as a Top Rated Seller.

I bought it over two weeks ago. Whilst the product was in transit I was in contact with the seller, he told me about the situation with the courier and delivery etc. The courier is apparently one man privately employed by the seller, so I was given no tracking number.

Then the estimated delivery date came, two weeks after the purchase date, and there was no sign of my £350 purchase. Neither the courier nor the seller had contacted me. I messaged the seller, to which I received no reply. I then requested his phone number from eBay, which has not been answered after multiple calls and text messages.

I have opened a case with eBay and I can hopefully get my money back, but can somebody explain why a Top Rated Seller has acted like this? As he has 99.8% positive feedback.

The seller has since taken his items off eBay.

Any ideas?

Two things come to mind:

1. The top seller realised he could get a lot more for the PS4 than your bid so he does not want to sell you the item even though you won' the auction. Yes it is against eBay rules and that is why he has withdrawn all of his other items and is going to do a runner.

2. It may take 2 to 3 weeks but you will get your money back from eBay when they see what has happened.

There are so many possibilities. Like Sean suggested, it could be a quick con.

Maybe even a hacked account?

Lucky you opened a dispute before time ran out. Very smart move.

Relax if you can prove that you didn't get the consignment on time ebay will refund you. Ebay always protects the buyer over the seller.

he was going to leave ebay anyway and just thought he would do a quick con, dont worry paypal will rfund the money, will take about 3 months

Maybe he didn't do it on purpose, maybe he was taken ill and rushed to hospital or something worse.
