Did USPS intentionally delay my package?

So I recently purchased a dress from Amazon that wasn't scheduled to be delivered until at least Friday, however the package arrived in Akron, Ohio today at about 4:00 am, which is only twenty minutes away from where I live. Thinking I might get it early like all of my other packages, I waited for it to be out for delivery. Next time I checked tracking, it had gone to Bellevue, Ohio--which is an hour and fifty minutes in the opposite direction!

Why would USPS carry my package to another carrier facility far away rather than letting it stay in Akron and giving it to me today?

Maybe the truck that will deliver it, probably tomorrow, comes out of Bellevue. And do you really think someone would have been sitting in Akron waiting for your package so they could run it right over to you?

More than likely, the Akron facility is a major sort hub...USPS does not deliver for major sort hubs - from there, your package goes to a regional sort facility (in your case, probably Bellevue) and from there to your local Post Office for delivery. Your location is tied not to a sort hub, but to the local post office and then the regional post office (and then the major sort hub in backwards order).

If there was a delay it was the result of normal scheduling and not an intentional or malicious act.

load and unload and transfer points do not change because you happen to live near a transfer point.
