when they ask why: i'd say because I attend church that day, and I want a day off to spend with family?
does this make me look lazy? I really don't like the idea of working seven days a week but if i have to then it is what it is :C
what are your thoughts?

Just say that you already have commitments on Saturdays. Don't say church & family because they will think "we'd all like to spend Saturdays with our family what makes you so special?"
You can't work sales and not work Saturdays. Sorry that is the golden rule. Saturday's and holiday sales are the best days for customers.
nope... you better tell it straight to them. I think they will understand if you say church and stuff, moreover we're not a robot that could work all week.
They only want to know when you are available. They don't care what you do on days you are not.
