Bay scam?

Posted at: 2015-07-28
I'm selling an iPod touch 5th generation on eBay & this Man won the bid for $234.00 & on his profile it says he lives in Ohio but he later emails me saying that he's on a business trip & wants me to ship the iPod to West Africa for his wife..? & he told me that he will pay for the shipping which would be $150.00.. Then "pay pal" sent me an email saying that he sent the money but 1st I'll have to ship it to Africa & give them the tracking # for them to confirm that It's sent in order for me to get custody of the money ... So is this a scam? & is the shipping price for something g in the U.S to Africa really $150.00? Shouldn't it be a lot higher? Should I send it?

Scam. Contact pay pal ASAP and talk to them, They will tell you the same thing.

No. He is probably using someone else's Ebay account and thats why the email did not go through MyEbay. Cancel the transaction immediately. The shipping cost is whatever you put on your listing. Tell the buyer you dont ship to Africa. Report his email address to Ebay Account Security.

Scam

eBay and Paypal prohibit transactions with West Africa and you have ZERO protection if you don't ship to the registered address in Ohio

Report the buyer ASAP to EBay - they are scamming you. The minute you send off the phone to their accomplice, they will file a dispute with EBay and PayPal claiming their account was hacked. PayPal will contact you asking for proof of delivery to the buyer's VERIFIED address. You won't have this as you shipped to Africa and PayPal refunds the buyer from your account and their accomplice resells your item for cash in Africa

When selling anything electronic you NEVER ship overseas or sell to overseas buyers as a new seller and state very clearly in your ad you ONLY ship to verified addresses in the US

Common scam. He won't even pay you. He wants you to ship it at your expense to West Africa.

As you hve already figured out, ALL you have gotten is a slick email purporting to be from Paypal (it isn't, he wrote it), saying that you can't get the money until you provide proof of shipment. That would make Paypal an escrow service and Paypal isn't.

He's hoping that the fake $150 would get you to ignore all of the warning signs.

Absolutely fake. Don't ship anything until the entire amount is paid in full in your paypal account...& keep it within the continental U.S.

RUNNNNNNNN

Of course it's a scam. And shipping to another address is against ebay TOS. So if you do, they won't protect you.

Right check out if the PayPal email is legitimate.

I would not deal with that if I were you. Post "US residents only"....
