As its my first ever purchase I am unfamiliar with how long these things take.
Do I wait a little longer or do I contact seller today?

It will take 7 to 14 days to arrive. You will get it but you will need some patience. I just sent a package USPS 1st class, shipping within the United States and it took 8 days to arrive. You are dealing with another country so expect a longer shipping time.
Sounds as if the postal system is doing its worst! Probably not the seller's fault (look at their feedback score to see if things often fail to arrive before you blame them). Give it another couple of days then contact the seller to let them know.
Nothing to worry about if you paid by Paypal - you'll get the item or your money back.
I usually give international purchases two weeks, just in case customs stalls the process.
